As a Family Portrait Photographer in Manchester I’ve been incredibly busy recently and I’ve just been booked on a commercial job to photograph a new clothing range based on the Hacienda club in Manchester, the location for the shoot is a bar in the city centre and will be taking place at the end of October.

The shoot today was at my studio in Manchester and as a Headshot for an actor who wanted to update their portfolio, I have been incredibly busy recently not just with Headshots but I’ve done a number of shoots for website imagery, the most recent was a Day Nursery in Liverpool. I spent the morning snapping away at the recently refurbished nursery.

As a Headshot Photographer in Manchester I nearly always work from my studio just outside the city centre, however occasionally I will pack my mobile studio together and visit my clients on location. There are many fantastic locations in and around the city centre, but one of my favourite areas is in and around castlefield, especially under the railway arches close to the canal.

Last week in Manchester as a Website Photographer I visited a recycling plant taking headshots of the staff and then moving into the factory and capturing the process from start to finish, the website has now been completed and the customer is delighted with the shots, on the back of this job I have been recommended to do something similar with a newly opened day nursery on Merseyside.

When I work as Website Photographer in Manchester or anywhere else for that matter, the most important thing is to get a clear and concise brief as to what they are looking to achieve through their website and once this has been agreed, it’s my job to make sure I capture the brief and with this in mind I always encourage a development meeting prior to the shoot.

I recently worked in Manchester not as an Event Photographer, but at the recently refurbished Mal Maison hotel, where I shot their recently refurbished suites, staying with the hotel theme, last week I worked with a hugely talented artist in a hotel in Warwickshire. I provided photographic reference material from some of the artists work that is being shown throughout the hotel.

Following the enquiry as an Event Photographer in Manchester, I also have another corporate event booked with a housing agency in Liverpool, it’s a full day’s shoot in Liverpool next week. I have been asked to capture the companies community open day, with face painting, clowns, bouncy castle etc let’s hope the weather gods are kind and the sun is shining!

After working in Manchester on Commercial Photography, I then headed up the M6 to Hampton in Arden to shoot at a fantastic boutique hotel on this job I was working with an Artist again for reference material on her website. The job went really well and I recieved an additional booking to provide reference material for the Artist in question.

It was then back up the M6 producing more Commercial Photography in Manchester, this time creating more headshots for a Dental Practice, again for a new website that is being produced. This highlights the changes in Photography, years ago I would shoot for brochures, catalogues etc a lot of this work has been replaced with website imagery.

One of the biggest challenges working as a Portrait Photographer with a Family is attempting to capture everyone’s personality within a group shot, with this in mind I will always attempt to make all my subject matter feel at ease and make the shot as natural as possible, without anyone having to force a smile.

As a Family Portrait Photographer I’m fortunate to have my own studio with all my own equipment including; lights, lenses, backdrops etc being in a familar environment allows me to concentrate on capturing the personalities and character of a family, resulting in some memorable shots.

I flew down to London for a early morning shoot at Elstree studios and met the band prior to the shoot they were all lovely and up for different ideas, taking photos for Take That in Manchester or London was no different to any other job, although the pressure was slightly greater due to the subject matter.

I took most of the shots in black and white and sepia with the rain machine working overtime the boys were incredibly patient as they were cold and wet, however I’m proud to say my Take That Photos Manchester have been used time and time again over the last 15 years, in fact my shots were used on the first comeback album and dvd, so I must have done something right!!
